Everything You Need to Know About Eagles-Jets Preseason Game 4

We're just a week away from the Eagles' season opener against the Falcons at the Linc, but we still have one more preseason game to go.

The Eagles host the Jets tonight. Here's everything you need to know:

6 p.m.: Eagles Preseason Kickoff on NBC10 or Pregame Live on NBCSP
7 p.m.: Eagles vs. Jets on NBC10
10 p.m.: Eagles Preseason Finale on NBC10 or Eagles Postgame Live on NBCSP

The television broadcasters are Scott Graham (play-by-play), Mike Mayock (color) and Dave Spadaro (sideline).

Positions to watch

Since this is the fourth preseason game, none of the Eagles' starters are going to play. That makes for a slightly less exciting game, but there's still plenty to watch. This game will go a long way in determining some spots on the 53-man roster.

When asked which positions he's really going to be looking at, head coach Doug Pederson mentioned the young wide receivers first. The Eagles probably have five receiver spots locked in - Alshon Jeffery, Mike Wallace, Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson - but there's a battle for that last spot. A guy like DeAndre Carter could make his case even stronger.

The Josh Adams push

After mentioning the receivers, Pederson singled out running back Josh Adams as someone he'd like to see get more touches. Adams has played well this preseason and might have a really good shot at that fourth running back spot; his biggest competition appears to be Wendell Smallwood.

"Another one that hasn't gotten a lot of touches in ball games is Josh Adams, as a runner, so want to maybe get him involved in this game a little bit early and see what he can do," Pederson said (see story). "He's another bright spot, young player that's made an impact."

It's also worth watching Donnel Pumphrey in this game. He's returning from a hamstring injury after missing the first three games of the preseason. He still has a shot to make the roster, but he'll need a big game.

Hackenberg's revenge

Earlier this week, Christian Hackenberg played down the storyline of facing his former team, but it's what'll be on everyone's mind once he takes the field (see story). He was the Jets' second-round pick in 2016 and was traded for what ended up being nothing earlier this offseason. He hasn't been with the Eagles long, but this game might be one of his last chances in the NFL.

Normally, there's not much intrigue deep in the fourth preseason game, especially to watch a fifth-string quarterback play. But this is an exception to that. All eyes will be on No. 8.
