Eagles Vets Pick Young Teammates They Want to See in Preseason Opener

After a couple weeks of training camp, we have finally made it to the first Eagles preseason game of the 2019 season.

The Eagles will host the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. For many players, it'll be their first NFL games. For plenty of others, it'll be the next chance to show they belong in this league.

With that in mind, we asked a bunch of Eagles veterans which of their young teammates they are excited to watch on Thursday.

Here are their answers:

Note: Some of these were collected before Joe Ostman's injury on Sunday night.

Rodney McLeod

"I would say I'm probably looking forward to seeing Miles Sanders. He's been looking good in camp, man. Good versatility out of the backfield, can run downhill, good cuts, good balance, seems strong when he runs, but can also catch out the backfield. Seeing him back there returning as well. I think he's a good young back and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in his first time at the Linc."

Malik Jackson

"For me, on defense, it's Joe Ostman. He's been doing a really good job of being consistent, making plays. Not only with the pads off, but when we put the pads on, he's still showing up. So I'm real interested to see what he looks like.

"And then Miles Sanders from Penn State. Really interested to see what he's able to do because he's really good. Great guy off the field. It's early in the year, but he knows where he's supposed to be and he's been coming out here and doing a lot of great things."

Nelson Agholor

"Greg Ward. Because he's been busting his butt all through training camp and I think he's ready to go. He's been through a lot of trials and tribulations, playing in the AAF, being a guy that got cut, being here two years prior. I think he's ready to go and I know he deserves to have a job in this league, how he works, his passion for the game."

Jordan Howard

"Miles (Sanders). Just to see him translating what he's been doing at practice to a game will be exciting to see."

Brandon Brooks

"I can tell you one dude who is going to have a big year is Josh Sweat. That mother-- been playing, bro. … The way he's been playing in the spring and now … it's unreal. His get-off. He's just super quick. I'm just excited for him, man, because obviously we all know about his knee and things like that, but it looks like he's healthy and he's bending the edge. I think it's going to be a good year."

Jason Kelce

"I don't think I have anyone in particular. I'm looking forward to all of them. We have a lot of good young talent here so I think the preseason games, that when they become really meaningful. You see how guys do in game-like situations. I'm excited to watch all of them."

Vinny Curry

"I'm looking forward to seeing Joe (Ostman) play. I think Joe has been working really, really, extremely hard. I think he can help us and I'm just looking forward to seeing him play."

Alshon Jeffery

"I'm going to be honest with you: I'm looking forward to seeing all our young receivers get a chance to play. All the young boys. They're hungry, they want to eat. Brax(ton Miller), I want to see Shelton (Gibson), Marken (Michel), Carlton (Agudosi), [DeAndre Thompkins], I want to see them all get in there and make plays, man. We're a brotherhood and we're all in this together. I definitely want to see all the young players. If they don't make it here, I want to see them make somebody else's team.

Zach Brown

"Twenty-six, Miles Sanders. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the game. He's got me excited and he's got some breakaway speed. It's going to be fun to see him."

Corey Clement

"I gotta stay in the RB group. Miles (Sanders). He's getting a change to get his feet wet in the NFL. I remember my first day going against the Bills, my first game. It was electrifying. So I'm pretty sure he's going to have fun. As long as he doesn't think too much, Miles can do outstanding things."

Nate Sudfeld

"Shoot, there's a lot of great guys to say. It's hard to always pick one. As a quarterback, you're working the room. I'm really excited for JJ (Arcega-Whiteside), I really like him. I'm just thinking rookies right now. I'm really excited to see Miles (Sanders), he's been looking great. I'll go with those two right now."

Isaac Seumalo

"I'm gonna go with the O-line just because I'm around them all the time. I just want to see all the rookies, honestly. They're all good dudes. They're fighting their butts off out here. I'm excited to see what they're going to do Thursday. I'll even go inside, Sua Opeta and Nate Herbig. It'll be fun to see how they do."

Lane Johnson

"Probably (Andre) Dillard and (Nate) Herbig. Herbig is just a big, jolly fellow. Kind of built like (Richie) Incognito. I like him. I like how he plays."

Ronald Darby

"I guess Jay (Liggins). All the other guys are older. He's made plays, good coverage, he has good size. I'm excited to see him play."
