Eagles Signing OT Riley Mayfield to Play in Tomorrow's Game

A day before their final preseason game and the Eagles aren't done adding players.

The Eagles are signing rookie offensive tackle Riley Mayfield, according to his agent Logan Brown.

If you're keeping track at home, Mayfield is the 17th player the Eagles have added since the start of training camp.

It's possible this move could be linked to Jordan Mailata's injury. In the first three preseason games, Mailata has played just about every snap at right tackle, but Doug Pederson revealed on Tuesday that Mailata has a lower-back injury.

Mayfield, a 6-foot-7, 302-pound rookie from the University of North Texas, signed with the Buccaneers after rookie minicamp but was released on July 31. Mayfield played in 27 games over two seasons with the Mean Green as their starting right tackle. He doesn't really have a shot of making the Eagles' roster, but it's a chance for him to dress for an NFL game for the first time.

The Eagles roster is full at 90, so we'll need a corresponding move for this one.

All rosters must be down to 53 by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
