With just eight days before the Eagles are scheduled to report to training camp, they suddenly have two spots open on their 90-man roster.
On Tuesday, the Eagles waived wide receiver Devin Ross with a non-football injury designation, which simply means he got hurt away from the practice field. Ross wasn't with the Eagles very long; he signed in late May during OTAs.
This news comes just a day after offensive tackle Tyreek Burwell announced his retirement.
Perhaps the Eagles use these roster spots on a veteran that will get fans excited … or maybe they use them on younger developmental players with a chance to turn heads at training camp. Teams are now allowed to keep 90 players throughout training camp and the preseason with just one cut to 53. The old rules, with a first cut to 75 players, was changed in March of 2017.
The Eagles will report for camp on July 24 and the first full-team practice is scheduled for July 25. Before you know it, the 2019 season will be here.
