US Soccer Star Julie Johnston Kicking It at Eagles Training Camp With Tight End Fiance

Unites States' women's soccer team star defender Julie Johnston probably wishes she was still in Rio instead of the gross humidity of South Philadelphia.

Johnston and her American teammates were upset in a devastating loss to Sweden in penalty kicks during quarterfinal play of the Rio Olympics last week, ending their hopes of repeating as Olympic gold medalists.

Eagles fans are likely aware that Johnston got engaged to tight end Zach Ertz over the winter so when her Rio trip got cut short, she used the opportunity to kick it with the Birds at their NovaCare Complex training camp this week.

Johnston was at Eagles practice on Monday and was seen showing off that big leg of hers, kicking some field goals, and throwing the pigskin around.

Ertz spoke a couple of weeks ago about not being able to attend the Olympics to support his fiancΓ© in Brazil due to Eagles training camp and also shared the story of how the two met at a Stanford baseball game. He proposed to her at the same venue.

Ertz also mentioned he hopes to get the chance to travel to Tokyo in 2020 to support Johnston in an attempt to get back onto the medal stand.

And if the Eagles' competition between Cody Parkey and Caleb Sturgis goes sour, maybe she can hang around the Birds a little more often.
