The reactions have been pouring in after the Eagles sent their top pass catcher from a season ago, Jordan Matthews, to the Bills along with a 2018 third-round pick for cornerback Ronald Darby. It's clear that Matthews, who the Eagles selected with the 42nd overall pick in the 2014 draft, was a well-respected member of the locker room. His quarterback, Carson Wentz, was one of the first to post a message about his now-former teammate on social media.
Crazy part of this business. @jmattjmattjmatt you'll always be my boy both on & off the field. Couldn't ask for a better teammate & friend.— Carson Wentz (@cj_wentz) August 11, 2017
I've only been around @jmattjmattjmatt for a few months but he is easily one of my favorite teammates ever. Good luck bro! God has you!— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) August 11, 2017
Despite being teammates for a short period of time, newly acquired WR Torrey Smith offered his words of support, too.
Trey Burton and Alshon Jeffery, fellow SEC-products posted some powerful messages on their Twitter.

Glad I got to work with my fellow SEC brother @jmattjmattjmatt the last few months. Great guy on and off the field. True pro. Good luck!— Alshon Jeffery (@TheWorldof_AJ) August 11, 2017
In addition to his teammates, experts and fans weighed in on the deal as well.

Trading Jordan Matthews is a huge mistake by the #Eagles— Eliot Shorr-Parks (@EliotShorrParks) August 11, 2017
Have to give Howie Roseman credit, here. He managed to pry away a starting caliber CB for Jordan Matthews, who was going to walk. #Eagles— Matt Lombardo (@MattLombardoPHL) August 11, 2017
We're okay without Jordan Matthews- after all, Nelson Agholor is good now— FakeWIPCaller (@FakeWIPCaller) August 11, 2017
Eagles play Buffalo next week. Jordan Matthews and Shady McCoy are now teammates facing the Eagles. Let that sink in.— Gym Shorts (@IgglesCoverage) August 11, 2017
