NFL Over/under Win Totals: Is Vegas Souring on the Cowboys as Eagles Rise?

Is Vegas down on the Cowboys?

With the recent release of the over/under win totals for the upcoming season, it sure seems that way.

Bovada has the Cowboys' win total placed at 9.5. That's a serious step back for a team that finished the 2016 season 13-3 and was seconds away from reaching the NFC championship game.

Vegas gives the Cowboys the sixth-highest win total, behind the Patriots (12.5), Seahawks (10.5), Steelers (10.5), Raiders (10) and Packers (10). The defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons sit at 9.5 wins.

Dallas is tied with Seattle, Atlanta and Oakland for the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl.

While Vegas has the Cowboys taking a step back from 13 wins, Dak Prescott and company are still favored as a whole to make another run at the Super Bowl.

2024 Eagles mock draft roundup 8.0: A pie-in-the-sky scenario

So what's behind the souring on Dallas?

It could be the Eagles.

The Eagles have filled key holes in their roster this offseason with a bolstered receiving corps and the addition of Derek Barnett in the draft. And the sportsbooks have taken notice, setting the Birds' over/under at eight wins, following a 7-9 year.

CBS Sports' Will Brinson is high on the Eagles, urging gamblers to take the over on the Eagles, and the under on both the Cowboys and Giants.

The Giants, 11-5 last year, are poised to take a step back with an over/under set at nine. The Redskins, who finished 8-7-1 in 2016, are sitting on 7.5 wins.
