Gunn-on-One: Josh Adams' Rise, Thoughts on Adrian Peterson

He's averaged over 5.0 yards a carry this season, and his 22-carry performance against the Giants has earned him the starting nod Monday night against Washington. Time to get in the backfield with rookie RB Josh Adams. He's this week's Gunn-on-One subject.

Q: How did you go from being undrafted, to practice squad, to 53-man roster to starting Monday night?

A: I don't think its just me. I'm blessed and have a great support group around me from my family and friends who continue to motivate me and push me. And just blessed with the abilities to not give up and continue to pursue my dreams and goals even when I'm down. That's something God has given me, a persistence and determination, so just all those things combined has gotten me to this point.

Q: When you're running the ball, what do you enjoy more: running through people or leaving them in the dust?

A: I would say running away from people and leaving them in the dust. A lot of people don't think that I'm a speed guy because of my length. It's a little extra satisfaction when I get to run past somebody and showcase a little bit of my speed and shock some people. I find that fun for me personally.

Q: Adrian Peterson has been doing what you do for a long time. How much have you admired his game?

A: He's one of the best to do it. One of the best to play the game, play the position. When you have guys like that, it's wise to learn from them and about how they got to the point they're at and try to get some insight into what made them so great. It's not so much about talking to him as it is watching him go through the drills or practice (like a Darren Sproles) and seeing how they work. It's going to be great playing against him and just see what he does and trying to compete, which is the best part about it.
