The Eagles had their only afternoon practice of the summer thanks to Sunday night's practice at the Linc.
It was a light 10-10-10 practice, but there were still things to observe:
1. During one of the defensive 11-on-11 periods, Jim Schwartz used his dime package exclusively going against a four-receiver set. Nathan Gerry was the only linebacker on the field. You can assume that role will be filled by Nigel Bradham when he's healthy. Malcolm Jenkins, Rodney McLeod and Andrew Sendejo were on the field as safeties.
I'd expect to see quite a bit of dime from the Eagles this year.
2. When the Eagles were briefly in their base package today, the three linebackers were Gerry, Zach Brown and L.J. Fort. I was surprised to see Fort as the MIKE. And it also looked like T.J. Edwards got bumped up to second team ahead of Alex Singleton today.
3. Jason Kelce and Alshon Jeffery got veteran days off today. Without Kelce, the Eagles shifted their line, putting Isaac Seumalo at center and Stefen Wisniewski at left guard. And Jason Peters warmed up but didn't do team drills.
So here was their top line on Monday: Andre Dillard, Wisniewski, Seumalo, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Lane Johnson

4. Corey Clement did some 11-on-11 work for the first time today and looked explosive. Even though he was basically running scout team in the defensive portion of the 10-10-10, it's still a great sign. He's definitely trending the right way.
5. Rookie cornerback Jay Liggins made a nice play in the end zone against 6-foot-6 receiver Carlton Agudosi. Agudosi looked like he caught the ball, but as he brought it into his body, Liggins was able to stay with it and strip it away.
6. Nate Sudfeld had a really nice throw to tight end Alex Ellis in the back of the end zone for a touchdown today. I thought Sudfeld started off camp a little slow, but he's been much better the last week or so.
7. JJ Arcega-Whiteside had a chance to make one of his signature catches in the corner of the end zone over Josh Hawkins but the rookie couldn't pull it down. After a great spring, the hype around JJAW has waned a little bit. Getting to these games could be a good thing for him.
8. Miles Sanders dropped an easy pass on Monday. He set up in the flat and tried to run before he had control. He just needs to look it in. But a little later, he did make a nice grab. Overall, he's definitely trending up. There's considerable buzz around him at the NovaCare Complex.
9. In the battle for the fourth defensive tackle spot, it appears Hassan Ridgeway is beating Treyvon Hester. Now, the team might keep both of them, but if they keep just one, my money is on Ridgeway for now. Today, he got a few first team reps next to Tim Jernigan and this isn't the first time we've seen him be the one to get bumped up.
10. Carson Wentz --> DeSean Jackson. Again. This time, Wentz went through his progressions in the red zone and eventually found Jackson in the back of the end zone. He got open against Avonte Maddox after about six or seven seconds. That's a long time to lock down DeSean.
Stupid Observation of the Day: The happiest I've seen Roob this summer was when practice began with Grateful Dead's "Bertha" playing loudly on the speakers. Then DeSean Jackson ruined his day.
