Eagles Turn to Veteran as 3rd-String Quarterback

The veteran defensive tackle was one of the Eagles' biggest offseason acquisitions. The 29-year-old was one season removed from a Pro Bowl year in which he recorded eight sacks. He was supposed to provide depth next to Fletcher Cox, a position that was considered a weak spot last season.

The Eagles still have Tim Jernigan, a key cog from the team that won Super Bowl LII. The 26-year-old, who was coming back from a severe back injury last season, will slide into the starting role.

The Eagles also have Hassan Ridgeway who was acquired from the Colts for a seventh-round pick this offseason. They could also promote Bruce Hector from the practice squad. Hector played in eight games for the Eagles last season as an undrafted rookie.
