Eagles Claim Cornerback Alex Brown Off Waivers

With a few injured cornerbacks, the Eagles on Friday claimed undrafted rookie corner Alex Brown, who was waived by the 49ers Thursday.

With the move, the Eagles' roster is full at 90.

The Birds began camp without Jalen Mills, who is on the Active/PUP list and then lost Cre'Von LeBlanc after one day (see story). LeBlanc was not even on the field Friday morning, so perhaps this move means his injury is somewhat serious. Ronald Darby, meanwhile, is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season (see story).

The Eagles have 10 total CBs on their 90-man roster. But including Brown, the Eagles have just seven totally healthy corners: Rasul Douglas, Sidney Jones, Avonte Maddox, Jay Liggins, Josh Hawkins, Jeremiah McKinnon and Brown.

At 5-11, 170 pounds, it seems Brown might be best suited as a nickel cornerback. On Friday, we even saw Malcolm Jenkins sneak onto the field with the second team to take some of those reps in place of LeBlanc (see observations).
