Eagles Do Football for the Ladies

Local women learn football from the pros

The Eagles are looking for a few good women ready and willing to learn football.

Are you up to the task?

The Birds will hold their fourth edition of Eagles Academy for Women on Feb. 20 and 21. In the past about 450 ladies showed up to learn football from the pros.

The half-day event (split into two similar sessions) is like a football 101 course. It gives ladies who aren’t exactly football savvy the chance to learn the basic x’s and o’s from Eagles players, coaches and even alumni.

It’s more than just a lecture for female fans."It's a fantasy-like experience for women," said Eagles spokesman Mike Malo.

Ladies will get on the field to put their knowledge to use.

The idea of a women's only football 101 event might come off as sexist but it isn't intended that way.

"The Eagles Academy offers fans a chance to enhance their football knowledge, meet Eagles players and coaches, and enjoy a great time with fellow female Eagles fans," said the team in a release.

"(The Eagles) like to create these cool, unique fan activities," said Malo.

The event could also be a great gift for any lady who wants to be more like one of the football-loving guys come Sunday afternoon.

Each session costs $90 and will be held at the team’s NovaCare Complex in South Philly. The Birds aren't making much money (if any) considering that lunch, an autographed item and all the events are included in the cost.

Tickets to the event normally sell out quickly so go to PhiladelphiaEagles.com to buy your tickets now.
