Eagles Coach Doug Pederson Gives Positive Update on DeSean Jackson

At the time of Doug Pederson's weekly interview on 94WIP Monday morning, the Eagles were still awaiting another update on DeSean Jackson, but the head coach knew enough to say this of Jackson:

"But fully expect him to be good in a couple weeks."

The Eagles are on their bye week now and host the Patriots in 13 days. After that, they host the Seahawks. Those are two tough games and the Eagles could certainly use a healthy DeSean.

Jackson, 32, returned to action on Sunday against the Bills after missing six weeks with an abdominal injury, but his return didn't go to plan. He played just four snaps and had one catch for five yards.

While Pederson after the game said the plan was for Jackson to play the whole game, he changed the story on Monday morning, saying the plan was for Jackson to be "limited" against the Bears.

"We knew that going in; he wasn't going to play the full game," Pederson said. "Everybody was comfortable with that decision."

But early in the game, Jackson "felt something" and the Eagles took him out for "precautionary reasons." Jackson was listed as questionable to return, but watched the rest of the win from the sideline.

Maybe the Eagles shouldn't have relied on a 32-year-old speed receiver, but even though Jackson seems to miss a few games every year, this is looking like it could be the most significant injury of his NFL career.

His previous low for games in a season came in 2015 with the Redskins, when he played 10. Even if Jackson returns against the Patriots and plays the rest of the season, he'd just get to 10 games and in two of his three this season, he's barely played.
