Daulton has been fighting brain cancer since his diagnosis this summer. He underwent brain surgery in July for Glioblastoma, otherwise known as "GBM" according to Tony Perri, president of the Darren Daulton Foundation. His upbeat spirit has been an inspiration to his fans.

A family friend told NBC10 sports reporter John Clark that Dutch felt Amanda had done so much for him, was there for him during the tough times (and good times) and that he just wanted to marry her.

The newlywed couple seized the moment by holding hands and raising them to celebrate with those who attended the nuptials, which included former teammate Tommy Greene, John Kruk and Pat Burrell.

Daulton spent 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies before being traded to the Marlins during the 1997 season. He won a World Series with the Marlins before calling it a career.

He now chairs the Darren Daulton Foundation, which helps in the development of youth sports programs and homelessness organizations.

Daulton resides in Clearwater.
