Union Trade Ethan White to New York City FC for Pick in 2017

The roster shuffle continued for the Union on Thursday, as they traded center back Ethan White to New York City FC for a fourth-round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"In discussions with the staff, it was evident that Ethan was a consummate pro during his time with the club," said Union Sporting Director Earnie Stewart in the team's official release. "We want to thank him for his service and wish him the best of luck in his future."

The move comes days after the Union utilized the trade market to move Cristian Maidana and Andrew Wenger to the Houston Dynamo for allocation money and the sixth-overall draft selection in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

White was expected to be released by the Union, making any return on a trade a bonus for the club.

White, turning 25 on Jan. 1, was acquired in early 2014, when the Union were forced, by player request, to send defender Jeff Parke to D.C. United. A Maryland native and United homegrown player, White was considered a young hopeful on the Union back line but was unable to claim a starting spot. He played in just 28 games over two seasons.
