The Union released their official 2016 primary jersey Thursday, and while not much changed in terms of color, there was a heavy reptilian influence on this year's threads.
"I feel a good energy wearing this jersey," Union forward C.J. Sapong said in a release. "It is complete with the snake theme, which rounds out the vibe. I am super excited to be wearing this jersey in 2016."
Featuring the same blue and gold as former Union jerseys, the middle stripe will feature a new snakeskin texture, evoking the Gadsden Flag snake the Union use in the club's official crest. The same snake is located as a tag at the bottom of the jersey, while the motto, "We Are One" is placed on the inside collar.
At the center of the jersey, the Union crest is now rubber, apart from the previous woven style.
The kit is rounded out by Union blue shorts that feature an Adidas gold stripe on the side that connects to a similar stripe on the jersey. Also in the release, the Union showed off goalkeeper John McCarthy's all white uniform that displayed a snakeskin pattern on the shoulders.
