Union, Red Bulls Play to Scoreless Draw in Preseason

For both the Union and the New York Red Bulls, finding the back of the net proved quite tough in a late-preseason matchup.

In the Tampa Bay Rowdies' Suncoast Invitational, the two teams played to a scoreless draw in a match at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

The Union were coming off a 2-0 victory in their previous preseason match against the Rowdies after going 0-2-1 in their first three contests.

The Red Bulls dictated play in the first half while the Union picked up five yellow cards. After joining the Union recently, Ilsinho received two of those yellow cards in the first half, leaving the team down a man for the rest of the night.

However, the Union were able to create some opportunities in the second half while goalkeeper John McCarthy helped preserve the shutout in net.

There's one more game on the Union's preseason slate. The squad faces Toronto FC on Saturday in Tampa, Fla., before beginning the regular season on the road at FC Dallas.
