‘Normal' 7-foot All-Star Headed to Super Bowl

Joel Embiid wants to watch the Super Bowl, just like millions of other people around the world.

The thing is, he has far more viewing choices than most.

Embiid will be attending the championship game between the Eagles and Patriots in Minneapolis. Once he's there, he hopes to feel like a "normal" sports fan and more so than an All-Star NBA center.

"I want to feel the experience," Embiid said after the Sixers' 103-97 win over the Heat (see observations). "I think I have two options. I want to sit right in the stands and to kind of see how it is. I've heard that's like the biggest event in American sports, so I want to experience that. If it's too cold, I want to mix it up. Go in the suite and then sit in the stands. I want to feel like a regular person too, so I'm going to do that."

Embiid, who has been attending Eagles' games throughout the season, will go to the Super Bowl the day after the Sixers play the Pacers in Indiana. He knows Justin Anderson will be joining him and is not sure of his other teammates beyond that.

Chances are, Embiid still will stand out in the crowd, especially if the Eagles win. It's hard to miss a reaction like this.
