After opting not to take a point guard in the draft, and whiffing on one in free agency, the Sixers have signed Sergio Rodriguez of the Euroleague to a one-year, $8 million deal, CSNPhilly.com Sixers insider Jessica Camerato confirms.
The signing was first reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical.
Rodriguez is no stranger to the NBA, though. the 30-year-old guard has played four seasons in the NBA — three with Portland from 2006-09 and half a season with Sacramento in 2009 before being traded to the Knicks to finish out the season.
Rodriguez (6-3, 168) has a NBA career field goal percentage of 41.8 percent and a three-point field goal percentage of 31.6 percent.
With a logjam in the frontcourt, the Sixers are in need of shooters, and it looks like they just might have found one.
