Sixers Comment on Mike Scott Incident Involving Eagles Fans

The Sixers are not treating Mike Scott's incident involving Eagles fans Sunday as a disciplinary matter at this time, a team spokesperson told NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The team discussed the incident with the veteran forward and reviewed the matter. Per the team spokesperson, Scott was accompanied by a member of the team's security staff as is the protocol for any player attending a public event.

The Sixers also don't think it's fair to view this as a representation of the Philadelphia fan base.

This was an unfortunate and isolated incident, and it is no way representative of the Philadelphia fan base as a whole. This city has incredible fans and we appreciate their passion and support.

Scott, 31, signed a two-year deal with the Sixers this offseason. He was acquired before the trade deadline in the deal that also brought Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanovic to the Sixers. Scott became a fan favorite thanks to his emoji tattoos, toughness and completely unfiltered commentary.

A native of Newport News, Virginia, Scott grew up a Redskins fans and for weeks on social media talked about attending the Eagles' tailgate in Washington gear. He's done an extensive media tour this summer. He's crashed a wedding and raced a fan among his many offseason activities.
