Sixers Injury Update: Ben Simmons (back Tightness) Questionable for Tuesday's Game Against Pistons

Updated: Tuesday at 5:41 p.m.

After playing all but one game his rookie season, Ben Simmons is out for the Sixers on Tuesday night.

Simmons sat out the Sixers' practice Monday and will miss Tuesday's game against the Pistons in Detroit.

After Simmons received treatment during the team's shootaround Tuesday, head coach Brett Brown said Simmons was doubtful

On Saturday night against the Magic, Simmons exited the game with 4:19 remaining in the first quarter with back tightness and did not return.

"I thought he played OK, but it was clear that something was going on," Brown said after the game. "Despite that, I thought he was OK on the floor, and I just took him out and was informed that he wouldn't be coming back."

With Simmons out, Brown chose to go with T.J. McConnell at the point to finish Saturday's game instead of Markelle Fultz.

With Simmons out against Detroit, there could be an opportunity for Brown to start Fultz at the one, the position where he feels the second-year guard is best.

Simmons, who sat out the 2016-17 season with a broken foot, only missed the Sixers' game against the Magic on Nov. 25, 2017, during his rookie season, with left elbow swelling. McConnell had 15 points and 13 assists in a 130-11 Sixers win.

Mike Muscala, who missed the first three games of the season with an ankle sprain, is available to make his Sixers debut. Per The Inquirer's Keith Pompey, Muscala will play.

Wilson Chandler (hamstring strain) is out vs. the Pistons and for Wednesday night's game against the Bucks. Jerryd Bayless (knee sprain) and Zhaire Smith (foot fracture) remain out.
