Brandon Paul had a strong summer league showing in Las vVgas for the Sixers, and his efforts have paid off.
Paul has signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Sixers, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.
Paul, a guard, averaged 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 19.5 minutes over six games for the Sixers. He posted 20 points (including four threes) and six rebounds against the D-League Select Team, followed by 18 points and six steals against the Nets.
Even though Paul was not a major part of the rotation to start summer league with the Sixers, he stayed prepared for the moment he got the nod.
"You can't really fall into the trap of not paying attention because your number could be called at any time,” Paul said following the Sixers’ July 13 win over the D-League Select Team (see story). “As long as you're locked in, you know what your possible matchups would be when your number gets called, I think you've got a good chance of coming in and making a contribution."
Paul also played for the Hornets' summer League team in Orlando. He could be a fit for the Sixers' D-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, next season.
Paul may be a rookie, but the 25-year-old has years of basketball experience. He went undrafted out of Illinois in 2013. Since then he has played for the Canton Charge (D-League) as well as Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) and FIATC Joventut (Spain). Paul most recently averaged 13.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists for FIATC Joventut.

At the conclusion of Sixers' run in the tournament portion of the Samsung NBA Summer League, Paul posted this Instagram photo about his time with the team:
