Report: Sixers Reach Two-year Deal With Guard Gerald Henderson

The Sixers made another addition their backcourt Tuesday, agreeing to a two-year, $18 million deal with free agent guard Gerald Henderson, according to Cleveland.com's Chris Haynes.

Henderson, 28, averaged 8.7 points last season, shooting 44 percent from the field and 35 percent from three in his first and only season in Portland. Prior to that, the Duke product spent six seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets, averaging double-figures in scoring four times. His best season was 2012-13, when he averaged 15.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Henderson has Philly ties. He played at Episcopal Academy alongside Wayne Ellington. When both graduated, Henderson went to Duke and Ellington ended up at North Carolina.

Henderson's father, Gerald Henderson, played for the Sixers from 1987 to 1989 and was a Sixers analyst for Comcast SportsNet.

Henderson is a career 31.9 percent shooter from three. He made a career-best 35.3 percent last season on a career-high 136 attempts.
