J.J. Redick fits the Sixers' offseason wish list, and they aren't wasting any time at the start of free agency on Saturday morning.
The Sixers are meeting with Redick, according to Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN. The Sixers were expected to express interest in the unrestricted free agent, according to a source.
Years and dollars could be a determining factor for Redick. The Sixers would be interested in a short-term, big-money offer, according to Wojnarowski, "a one-year deal at a very big number, $20 million-plus, potentially." Redick, 33, could be looking for a longer-term deal, though.
Redick will be sought after in the market. Wojnarowski reported the Timberwolves and Nets are also pursuing him. Redick is interested in the Rockets since the acquisition of former teammate Chris Paul, according to the Los Angeles Times. Wojnarowski said the Clippers are out of the running.
Redick would fill two of the Sixers' biggest voids: shooting and veteran leadership. He has made an 11-year NBA career out of being a reliable three-point threat. Last season, Redick averaged 15.0 points per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three and 89.1 percent from the line. He also posted 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.2 minutes.
Redick would bring proven experience to the Sixers' locker room. The team is in need of more veterans after waiving Gerald Henderson on Friday (see story). Redick has been to the playoffs every year in the league and could help keep a young team on the path to a postseason berth.

Redick only has missed 15 games in the past three seasons combined for the Clippers. He has started each game in which he has played over that period.
