No Player Is Even Close to Joel Embiid in Rookie of the Year Odds

The 2016-17 NBA rookie class hasn't been especially impressive so far ... save for Joel Embiid.

Embiid is the overwhelming favorite to win Rookie of the Year with 1/4 odds, according to Bovada. That means you'd have to wager $400 to win $100.

Just two weeks ago, on Oct. 18, Embiid was 5/1. On July 4, he was 10/1.

No rookie's odds are even close to Embiid's. Denver's Jamal Murray is second at 9/1, followed by Kris Dunn (10/1), Brandon Ingram (14/1) and Dario Saric (16/1).

Ben Simmons, despite being out until at least January with a Jones fracture, is a spot lower than Saric at 30/1.

Embiid, whose minutes restriction was officially increased Wednesday from 24 to 28, leads all rookies with 18.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.

Butler sprained MCL in Sixers-Heat play-in game, will miss several weeks

Heat's Jimmy Butler expected to miss several weeks with right knee injury: Report

Murray is the only other NBA rookie averaging double-figure points (10.4). No rookie other than Embiid and Saric (5.9) is averaging more than 4.3 rebounds. And Embiid's 2.4 blocks per game are four times as many as the next-best rookie.

It's not even close, and it's difficult to imagine Embiid losing the award unless he goes down with an injury. The wait has paid off.

Meanwhile, in the MVP race, Russell Westbrook is the favorite at 8/5. He was at 2/1 on Oct. 18.

Westbrook, who is averaging a triple-double, already has nine of them in 20 games. His over/under before the season was 20.5 triple-doubles and he's on pace for 37.
