ORLANDO, Fla. -- The tenure of Jodie Meeks with the Orlando Magic has hit a snag before getting started.
The team announced the recently acquired guard underwent surgery on Tuesday to stabilize the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Meeks, acquired in a trade with Detroit on June 29, will be out indefinitely. His return will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation.
The procedure is on the bone Meeks broke during the second game and caused him to miss most of the last season with the Pistons. Meeks, who passed a physical with the Magic, will provide depth at shooting guard and small forward.
He averaged 7.3 points and 1.7 rebounds last season.
Nuggets: Rookie Murray, veteran Miller strike deals
DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets have signed first-round pick Jamal Murray and agreed to a deal with veteran Mike Miller.
Murray was the seventh overall pick in the NBA draft last month. The shooting guard is expected to play a big part in turning around a franchise that's missed the playoffs the past three seasons. Murray is coming off a freshman season at Kentucky in which he averaged 20 points a game -- the highest scoring average for a Wildcats player under coach John Calipari.
The 36-year-old Miller played only 373 minutes last season but served a valuable role as a mentor on a young squad. His deal reportedly is for two years.

Miller was picked fifth overall by Orlando in 2000. He's also played for Cleveland, Memphis, Miami, Washington and Minnesota.
Suns: Team officially announces Barbosa signing
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns have announced the signing of veteran guard Leandro Barbosa.
Barbosa returned from his native Brazil, where he was preparing for the Rio Olympics, to be re-introduced by the Suns on Tuesday.
Barbosa played eight of his 13 seasons with the Suns. He spent his first seven NBA seasons with Phoenix and returned for the 2013-14 season. He played the past two seasons for Golden State, helping the Warriors win the NBA title in 2014-15.
The agreement with Barbosa had been widely reported on July 7. He signed a two-year, $8 million contract. Only $500,000 of the $4 million in the second year of the deal is guaranteed.
Barbosa, selected by San Antonio as the 28th overall pick in 2003, was traded to Phoenix on draft night.
NBA: Free live stream of weekly pregame show on Twitter
NEW YORK -- The NBA will deliver a free live stream of a weekly pregame show on Twitter next season as part of an expanded content partnership with the social media site.
The first of its kind sports programming was announced Tuesday, as well as plans for another show that's still to be determined for next season.
With more than 22 million followers, the NBA has the largest Twitter community of any sports league. Next season, it will bring more live programming to Twitter, Vine and Periscope.
The league says it will produce more videos from major events such as the NBA Finals and All-Star weekend, along with player access such as Q&As.
