Instant Replay: Jazz 100, Sixers 83

BOX SCORE

SALT LAKE CITY -- Scoring nine points in the fourth quarter isn't exactly the best way to put away a win on the road.

The Jazz outscored the Sixers 30-9 in the final quarter, including a 10-0 run out of the third, for a 100-83 comeback win at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The shorthanded Sixers had held their own against the Jazz, who hold the fifth spot in the Western Conference, through three quarters before losing control in the final 12 minutes.

Nerlens Noel played a season-high 23 minutes in the absence of Joel Embiid (rest on back-to-back set). He scored 14 points with six rebounds.

Noel was active at the basket but showed signs of fatigue in the first half. He looked more energetic in the second, scoring six points in the third quarter (watch a dunk here)

"I focus on doing the same thing I always do, preparing like I'm going to play 30," Noel said before the a game. "It's good to just have this mindset that I can always call on, having the willpower to be able to do that."

Inside the stats
• Ersan Ilyasova led the Sixers with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

3 observations after Sixers lose dramatic, controversial game in Harden's return

Can Sixers avoid the play-in? Taking stock of the race going into home stretch

• Jahlil Okafor scored 13 points, all in the first half, including seven in a 1:17 span.

• Robert Covington went 0 for 11 from the field (0 for 7 from three) in a team-high 32 minutes. He scored one point off a free throw and grabbed six rebounds.

• Jazz starting point guard George Hill played his first game since Nov. 29 (sprained left big toe). He scored 21 points, with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

• Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood scored 20 points apiece for the Jazz.

• Dominating big man Rudy Gobert had 13 rebounds and nine points. Gobert's night could have been much better if he didn't shoot 3 for 11 from the free throw line.

Injury updates
Sergio Rodriguez suffered a left ankle sprain at the end of the third quarter and did not return.

Embiid and Gerald Henderson (left hip soreness) did not play. Richaun Holmes is back in Philadelphia following the concussion protocol.

Stauskas the starter
With Henderson out, Stauskas got his fourth start of the season. The switch from the bench to the starting lineup is not a big transition for the shooting guard.

"I feel like starting, coming off the bench, you're still playing in the game," Stauskas said prior to tip-off. "I think it would be different if you're not playing at all. I've been playing pretty good minutes lately (25.8 in last 10 games). As far as conditioning and rhythm, I feel like I'm in a good place, so it's not much of an adjustment or change I need to make."

Up next
The Sixers will leave Salt Lake City and travel to Denver for the second matchup of a back-to-back set against the Nuggets, the final game of their road trip.
