3 in a Row: Joel Embiid Named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

Joel Embiid has been playing NBA games for three months, and all three months he's been named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month.

Currently sitting out with a left knee contusion suffered on Jan. 20, Embiid averaged 23.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.6 blocks in January. The Sixers went 7-2 in the games he played and 3-3 in the ones he missed.

Embiid's points and assists have increased each month this season. His PPG has risen from 18.4 to 19.8 to 23.4. His assists have gone from 1.7 to 2.3 to 2.8.

Embiid shot 47 percent from the field in January and 32 percent from three, up from 45 and 30 in December.

He's dominated the rookie class this season and Bovada's Rookie of the Year odds express that. Embiid is 1/25 to win the award, with Bucks PG Malcolm Brogdon next at 20/1.
