Sixers Hire Ned Cohen, Marc Eversley for Front Office Jobs

The names and faces already are changing in the Sixers' front office.

It has been only a month since Bryan Colangelo was hired as president of basketball operations, and the team is making significant moves.

The Sixers on Thursday hired Ned Cohen as associate vice president and chief of staff and Marc Eversley as vice president of player personnel.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to bolster our front office through the addition of two eminently respected and seasoned professionals," Colangelo said.

Cohen and Eversley are new to Philadelphia, but they are well-known around the league. Both have developed strong relationships and reputations over their careers. Their résumés and track records will benefit the Sixers when it comes to the draft process and free agency this summer, as well as making transactions down the road.

Cohen most recently served as the NBA's associate vice president of basketball operations. He will start his role with the Sixers in June and will be the primary liaison for interdepartmental planning, coordination and communication.

Cohen began working for the league office in 2004. Over his career he was involved in the operations of meetings and events such as the All-Star Game, Board of Governors meetings and the Competition Committee.

"Ned's overall knowledge of the league, his expertise on a wide range of topics, and his ability to manage high-level issues will be very beneficial to our management team," Colangelo said.

Eversley comes to the Sixers from the Wizards, where he had been vice president of player personnel. He is no stranger to Colangelo, dating back to Colangelo's time as president and general manager of the Raptors.

In 2006, Colangelo hired Eversley as director of basketball operations for the Raptors. Eversley moved up the ranks, earning promotions to assistant general manager of player development in 2008 and assistant general manager in 2010, before working his last two seasons with the team as vice president of college scouting.

Colangelo's familiarity with Eversley's skill set is meaningful as the Sixers head into the draft with the potential for four first-round picks. While working for the Raptors, Eversley scouted NCAA prospects, organized pre-draft workouts and led pre-draft scouting and evaluations.

Eversley previously worked over 10 years for Nike, including a role as player relationship manager.

"Marc's distinguished eye for talent along with his ability to relate to and connect with players has set him apart in such an important sector of the industry," Colangelo said.

In addition to the hirings, the Sixers promoted Brandon Williams to vice president of basketball administration. He will directly oversee player development, team security and team services, as well as be part of talent evaluation. Williams also will maintain his role as general manager of the Delaware 87ers, the Sixers' NBA Development League affiliate.
