This week, the Phillies mourned the death of longtime executive David Montgomery. Next week, they're going to honor him.
On Monday night, the Phillies will hold a moment of silence for Montgomery and all fans at the game will be given a commemorative scorecard. Montgomery kept score of every Phillies game during his career, so this is a pretty cool tip of the cap to a local legend.
The Phillies will be wearing a patch to honor Montgomery for the rest of the season. So will Penn Charter, where Montgomery attended high school.

Montgomery died on Wednesday at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. At the time of his death, the Phillies were already in St. Louis and are in Kanas City for this upcoming weekend. So Monday is their first home game since the sad news broke and their first chance to honor Montgomery at Citizens Bank Park, his grand achievement.

There will also be a public celebration of life for Montgomery on Thursday, June 6, at Citizens Bank Park at 3:05 p.m. The family of Montgomery is holding the public service for Montgomery then because it's the conclusion of the draft and Montgomery loved the draft. It's an off day for the club before they kick off a home series on June 7.
In lieu of flowers, Montgomery's family asks for contributions to be made to Phillies Charities, Inc.
