Phillies Notes: Aaron Nola Rehab, Jeanmar Gomez to DL, a Trade With Mariners

Aaron Nola will make a rehab start at Triple A on Wednesday night as he works to return from a lower back strain.

Nola had an MRI last week and it came back clean. He's been on the DL since April 24 and hasn't pitched since April 20.

In three starts this season, Nola is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA. His rotation spot has been filled by Nick Pivetta.

Gomez to DL
The Phillies have placed reliever Jeanmar Gomez on the 10-day DL retroactive to May 6 with a right elbow impingement.

To fill his spot on the roster, utilityman Ty Kelly has been recalled from Triple A Lehigh Valley, giving the Phillies a five-man bench.

Gomez looked good in his last outing when he pitched two scoreless innings against the Cubs. He generated four groundballs and five swinging strikes, prompting manager Pete Mackanin to compliment his former closer the next day. Gomez has a 7.94 ERA this season in 11 appearances.
