The Phillies, behind a solid outing from Jake Arrieta and a 12-hit attack from the offense, snapped a two-game losing skid and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-4, at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night.
The win allowed the Phillies (38-29) to maintain their share of first place in the National League East. They are tied with Atlanta. The Phils and Braves play a three-game series in Atlanta beginning Friday night.
Arrieta pitched six innings for the win. He gave up just three runs to a team that scored 13 the night before.
The bullpen allowed just a run over three innings.
The keys
• Scott Kingery and Jay Bruce both continued to swing hot bats. Kingery, who belted two homers and a triple on Monday night, smacked a three-run homer in the second inning and Bruce delivered an RBI single in the fifth. (He also made a defensive gem in left field.)

The home run was Kingery's seventh in 106 at-bats. He had eight in 452 at-bats last season.
Bruce has made seven starts with the Phillies. He has 13 RBIs.
• Arrieta delivered some gutsy work with the Phillies up by three runs in the top of the sixth inning. He allowed a pair of one-out hits before getting two fly balls to left field to end the inning. One of the fly balls, off the bat of Tim Locastro, reached the warning track. Whew.
• Rookie J.D. Hammer also showed some guts in the top of the seventh. Making just his sixth big-league appearance, he entered with a four-run lead and quickly gave up a solo homer and a walk. Hammer kept it together and retired the next three batters.
In a situation that seemed to call for Vince Velasquez, manager Gabe Kapler went to Juan Nicasio for the eighth inning and he put up a big zero. Hector Neris closed it out. He is 14 for 14 in save chances.
Arrieta's night
He wasn't great, but he was solid, certainly better than he was in his previous two starts when he was racked for 17 hits, including five homers, and 10 runs in just 9 2/3 innings.
Arrieta allowed 10 base runners on six hits and four walks, but he managed to limited damage and give the offense a chance.
Health check
Reliever Edubray Ramos could be ready to come off the injured list Wednesday.
Kapler said reliever Pat Neshek "is very close" to being activated.
Center fielder Roman Quinn was slated to play nine innings for Single A Clearwater on Tuesday night. It sounds like there's a chance he could be ready to go by the weekend.

The Phillies will look to win the series on Wednesday night. Zach Eflin (6-5, 2.88) pitches against Arizona right-hander Merrill Kelly (6-6, 4.12).
