It looks like Dylan Cozens is getting his first call to The Show.
Cozens was seen packing his bat bag outside the IronPigs' clubhouse Wednesday and getting congratulated, so even though there's no official word yet, all signs point to Cozens replacing Rhys Hoskins on the Phillies' 25-man roster.
Hoskins will likely be placed on the 10-day DL Thursday with a fractured jaw. He's headed back to Philly tonight and will be evaluated by an oral surgeon (see story).
It's unclear how much time Hoskins will miss, but in 2013, Jason Heyward missed just under a month after being hit by a pitch that fractured his jaw. Heyward's injury looked more gruesome.
For now, though, Cozens will take the place of his former Bash Brother. That duo famously combined for 78 home runs and 241 RBI in 2016 at Double A Reading, with Cozens going deep 40 times.
Cozens is a big-time power prospect, but strikeouts and weak at-bats against left-handers have been issues throughout his minor-league career. The 24-year-old has struck out 72 times in 189 plate appearances this season.
Since May 6, Cozens has hit .135 in 84 plate appearances with two homers and 37 strikeouts.

He's done damage against right-handers though, hitting .266 with an .879 OPS. Cozens may get a start here or there but figures to be used primarily as a pinch-hitter against a right-handed reliever in a power spot. Tie game, bases empty, down a run, Cozens is the logical choice. Runner on third with less than two outs, not so much until he proves he can put the ball in play consistently in the bigs.
Cozens is already on the Phillies' 40-man roster so no other move needs to be made.
