Lehigh Valley IronPigs Part of the Rarest Kind of History

As the Phillies were following their 14-inning affair by taking on Zack Greinke and the Diamondbacks Tuesday night, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs were a part of some unfortunate history.

The Phils' Triple A club lost, 12-5, to the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates' affiliate) and watched as not one, but two players hit for the cycle.

Shortstop Kevin Newman, the Pirates' first-round pick in 2015, went 5 for 5 out of the leadoff spot with an extra double for good measure.

Catcher Jacob Stallings, who's had three cups of coffee with the Pirates the last three seasons, added a cycle of his own out of the cleanup spot.

Lefty Cole Irvin (10-4, 3.00) started the game and allowed six runs in five innings.

Newman completed his cycle with a homer off Jake Thompson in the eighth inning. Stallings came up two batters later needing a triple and got it.

They're calling it the bi-cycle, and in case you're wondering, no pair of teammates in MLB history has ever done this in the same game.
