The Phillies were turning heads with their Day 2 picks of the MLB draft, according to one draft expert.
MLB.com columnist Jim Callis even went as far as to say the Phillies had the best Day 2 group of any team in the league, praising the team's eight picks Friday.
They started off the day by taking SS/3B Cole Stobbe, a high schooler from Nebraska, who Callis compared to Rockies shortstop Trevor Story. He called Stobbe the "best signable position player available."
He went on to compliment their choice to pick a pair of left-handed pitchers in Jo Jo Romero (fourth round) and Cole Irvin (fifth round). The Phillies apparently got some value in their sixth-round pick David Martinelli, an outfielder from Dallas Baptist, who was projected by some to go in the third round.
The Phillies will have a chance to continue that momentum on Day 3 of the MLB draft.
