Source: Evgeny Medvedev Faces Several Charges After DUI Arrest

Updated: Saturday, May 14 at 3:19 p.m.

Flyers defenseman Evgeny Medvedev has been charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, law enforcement sources told CSNPhilly.com, confirming Sam Carchidi of the Inquirer's report.

The report states Medvedev will have a hearing on June 15.

The charges stem from an arrest for suspicion of DUI back on April 27 in Montgomery County. Medvedev was stopped for a traffic violation around 2:45 a.m., police told NBC 10.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall on Saturday afternoon gave his first comments regarding Medvedev and the charges the defenseman faces.

"We are aware of the charges against Evgeny Medvedev and will have no further comment due to this being a pending legal matter," Hextall said in a release.

The 33-year-old Russian signed a one-year deal with the Flyers last May after seven seasons in the KHL. Medvedev didn't appear to be part of the Flyers' future. He was a healthy scratch for 14 of the team's final 15 games.
