Report: Flyers HOFer MacLeish Hospitalized With Medical Issues

Flyers Hall of Famer Rick MacLeish has been hospitalized locally for six weeks fighting multiple medical problems, according to Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Per the story, MacLeish's daughter, Brianna, did not disclose what her father was battling but said her family deeply appreciates the support and asks for privacy.

The 66-year-old MacLeish spent parts of 12 seasons with the Flyers, and his name is still prevalent among the team's all-time leaders. The three-time All-Star center ranks in the top 10 in franchise history in points (fourth - 697), game-winning goals (fourth - 51), assists (tied for fifth - 369), goals (sixth - 328) and games played (tied for sixth - 741).

Known for his potent wrist shot, MacLeish was a key piece to both Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1973-74 and 1974-75. He won the Flyers their first Cup with the only goal in the decisive, 1-0 Game 6 win over the Bruins. He finished his postseason career with 54 goals and 53 assists in 114 games.

Selected by Boston Bruins with the fourth overall pick in the 1970 draft, MacLeish was traded to the Flyers in February 1971. In 1972-73, his first full season with the Flyers, MacLeish recorded 50 goals and 50 assists, both career-highs. He remained in Philadelphia until 1981, when he was traded to the Hartford Whalers, who six months later dealt him to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Nearly two years later, MacLeish returned to the Flyers as a free agent. He spent the first half of the 1983 season with the Flyers, who traded him to Detroit, where he finished the season before retiring in 1984. He finished his NHL career with 349 goals and 410 assists for 759 points in 846 career games.

Per the report, his daughter said those wanting to send get-well wishes can do so through the Flyers Alumni Association at the following address:
