Marcel Pelletier, who helped bring both Stanley Cup championships to Philadelphia, died on Saturday. He was 89.
After his playing career as a goalie, Pelletier was just 38 years old when he was hired by the Flyers.
He became the Flyers' director of player personnel, working with the team's first GM Bud Poile and then with Keith Allen.
As a longtime scout for the Flyers, Pelletier helped build some of the best teams in franchise history.
"Marcel worked closely with Keith Allen as they put together a team that would turn the hockey world upside down by winning back-to-back Stanley Cups," Flyers president Paul Holmgren said, via the team's website. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Marcel's family at this difficult time."
After his time with the Flyers, Pelletier served as a special consultant to the vice president of the Bruins. The Quebec native made South Jersey his permanent home and lived there until his death.
