The Flyers have introduced Alain Vigneault as their next head coach.

Vigneault, 57, is the team's 21st head coach and he comes to Philly with some significant coaching experience. He has 1,216 games of NHL coaching experience under his belt. He last coached the Rangers from 2013-18.

"We are extremely excited to have Alain join this franchise and lead our team behind the bench for many years to come," general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement released by the team. "He brings a tremendous amount of success over an extended period of time that will prove valuable to our team to take the next steps in returning the winning culture to the Philadelphia Flyers organization."

During his years as an NHL head coach, Vigneault has coached two teams to the Stanley Cup Final - the Canucks in 2011 and the Rangers in 2014. He has coached three teams to 50-plus wins and eight to 100-plus points. The Flyers are coming off a 37-win season with 82 points, their fewest in a full season since 2006-07.
