Jakub Voracek Latest Flyer to Be Recognized by NHL

It happens every so many moons: the Flyers have a player named NHL No. 1 Star of the Week twice -- in consecutive weeks.

Jakub Voracek is the latest Flyer to be honored by the league after posting three goals, six assists for nine points over four games to help the Flyers continue their current nine-game winning streak.

Rangers goalie Antti Raanta and Columbus center Sam Gagner, a former Flyer, were named No. 2 and No. 3 stars for last week’s play.

Voracek’s offensive outburst was tops in the NHL last week.

His overtime goal – second this season – gave the Flyers a 3-2 win over Florida. He then followed that up with back-to-back four-point games against Edmonton and Dallas.

The last Flyer to have consecutive, four-point games was Eric Lindros during the 1997-98 season.

Voracek is third in the NHL in scoring with 32 points (11 goals). He is also tied for third in the NHL in power play points with 13 along with teammate Brayden Schenn.

Teammates Claude Giroux (15) and Wayne Simmonds (14) are 1-2 as the Flyers hold down the top four spots.
