Instant Replay: Flyers 4, Blue Jackets 2

BOX SCORE

If only the game had meant something.

The Flyers finally defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets this season but it's a victory they could have better used earlier when they were still in the playoff hunt.

Saturday's 4-2 victory at Wells Fargo Center left them 1-2-1 against the Blue Jackets this season.

On the bright side, Dave Hakstol's team scored four goals on Sergei Bobrovsky, who came into the game 8-1 with a 1.65 goals against average and .945 save percentage against them.

How ironic that his opponent, Steve Mason, should get his 200th career victory in what is very likely his last game as a Flyer.

The Flyers have had no contract talks with his camp and re-signed Michal Neuvirth to a two-year extension earlier.

Recalled
Goalie Anthony Stolarz to backup Steve Mason during Neuvirth's injury and illness absence.

Notable goals
How about Pierre-Edouard Bellemare's first goal in 36 games! Snap wrister that beat Bobrovsky from the right circle for a 1-0 lead.

Challenge
Coach Dave Hakstol challenged Michael Del Zotto's "no goal" because of incidental contact on the goalie by Sean Couturier. Replays showed Coots coming through the crease and defenseman Seth Jones hitting his own goalie, not Couturier.

Goalie report
Bobrovsky wasn't his usual dominating self. Mason played a decent game with 20 saves and also had some help. After the Flyers made it 4-2, Mason had two shots ring off the post.

Power play
Jakub Voracek scored in the second period through the five-hole for his 20th goal. His last PPG was Feb. 28 against Colorado. Flyers were 1 for 3 overall.

Penalty kill
Hasn't been good all season and gave up one very quickly in the second period to Jones. Blue Jackets were 1 for 2.

Fights
Josh Anderson and Brandon Manning fought to a draw in the second period. Not even a fight really. Both bear-hugged each other to the ice.

Scratches
Forwards Matt Read (broken right arm); Michael Raffl (left knee); Michael Vecchione (healthy); and Nick Cousins (concussion); defensemen Radko Gudas (concussion); goalie Michal Neuvirth (sinus infection/concussion).

Up next
Flyers close out their season on Sunday night at Wells Fargo Center against the Carolina Hurricanes.
