Halak Saves 46 Shots in Islanders' Win

NEW YORK - Jordan Eberle and Brock Nelson scored early in the third period and Jaroslav Halak made 46 saves as the New York Islanders rallied for a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Columbus led 3-2 heading into the third after Nick Foligno scored on a breakaway late in the second. The Blue Jackets outshot the Islanders 26-12 in the first period and 40-28 through 40 minutes, dominating the game for significant stretches.

However, Eberle tied it 3-3 with his 18th goal at 2:49 of the third when he corralled a loose puck at the top of the slot and whipped it past backup Columbus goalile Joonas Korpisalo.

Nelson then managed to redirect a rebound past Korpisalo at 5:14 for his 11th of the season and only his second goal since Dec. 7. Andrew Ladd and Ryan Pulock had assists on the goal two seconds after a penalty to Columbus rookie forward Pierre-Luc Dubois had expired.

Nick Leddy and Josh Bailey also scored for the Islanders, who won for the first time in three games since the All-Star break. They lost the first two by combined 9-1 margin against Florida and Toronto (see full recap).

Danny DeKeyser scored both goals for Detroit and Petr Mrazek stopped 30 shots in his third straight start.

With the score tied at 2, Huberdeau slid a rebound under Mrazek's pad from inside the crease. The goal was challenged for goalie interference by Detroit but the call stood.

Barkov broke a 1-1 tie with his goal with 6:22 left in the second period. Evgenii Dadanov passed to Barkov in the high slot and Barkov skated in and beat Mrazek on the glove side (see full recap).

Stars win behind 4-goal 2nd period
DALLAS - Jamie Benn had a goal and an assist during a four-goal second period, and the Dallas Stars beat the Minnesota Wild 6-1 Saturday night.

Mattias Janmark and Benn scored on the power play, Tyler Seguin scored on an assist from Benn, and Stephen Johnsadded an unassisted goal during the second-period flurry. Alexander Radulov and Dan Hamhuis scored in the third period for the Stars, Seguin also had two assists, and Kari Lehtonen stopped 30 shots to win his fourth straight.

Jason Zucker spoiled Lehtonen's shutout bid at 5:40 of the third period. Alex Stalock stopped 25 of the 29 shots he faced through the first two periods, and Devan Dubnyk gave up two goals on nine shots in the third.

In an evenly played first period, neither team had a goal or a penalty as the Wild outshot the Stars 10-9 (see full recap).

Blues' Hutton shuts out Sabres
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Carter Hutton stopped 27 shots, and Carl Gunnarsson banked in a shot off the crossbar with 5:41 left in the St. Louis Blues' 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.

Hutton earned his third shutout of the season and 11th of his career while improving to 9-1-1 in his past 11 games, in which he's allowed just 17 goals. His best save came with 32 seconds left when he spread-eagled through the crease by kicking out his right skate to stop Sam Reinhart, who was set up alone at the right post.

Hutton was also fortunate with 3 seconds left when Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen's shot from the blue line hit the post in a game that proved to be a goaltending dual.

Buffalo's Robin Lehner made 32 saves in the loss and had little chance to stop Gunnarsson's shot (see full recap).
