Gritty Knows Exactly How Long to Microwave a Turkey

In a Thanksgiving coup, the folks at Time magazine have somehow managed to score an exclusive interview with Flyers mascot Gritty.

It does not disappoint.

It all started yesterday when Time's Twitter account asked its followers who the Person of the Year should be. Gritty responded in perfectly gritty fashion. The dude is good at social media.

And he's also apparently quite good at interviews.

His Thanksgiving takes are FLAMES:

Q: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?

Gritty: Simple. Boat of gravy. With a straw.

Q: White meat or dark meat on your turkey? Do you wish there was orange meat?

Gritty: Boat. Of. Gravy. With straw.

And finally, the folks at Time asked Gritty about the trending prank of texting your mother asking her how long you should microwave a turkey. Your mother probably thinks you shouldn't, but she's not Gritty.

Q: Is there a Thanksgiving message you'd like to share with your fans?

Gritty: It takes exactly four hours and 13 seconds (plus one popcorn cycle) to cook a 12-pound bird to golden perfection in your microwave. You're welcome, moms.

We will be heading to Acme right now to get a 12-pound bird right now and will report back about our microwave skills tomorrow.

The whole interview is probably worth your time. Gritty shares details of his friendship with the Phanatic as well as his take on the struggling Eagles.
