Flyers Mascot Gritty Shares His Own #10YearChallenge Photo

It's not entirely clear why people on the internet are sharing photos of what they looked like 10 years ago alongside photos of what they look like today, but they are.

The #10YearChallenge has taken both your Twitter and Facebook feeds by storm.

There isn't much of an explanation for why people are interested in this phenomena, which leads us right back to Gritty. There's not much of an explanation for that guy either.

Sports Nation's Twitter had the wise idea to ask Gritty to participate in the challenge and it worked!

As the legend goes, Gritty has been around for a long time, we just didn't know about it:

He claims that he's been around for a lot longer than we know it, and recent construction at the Wells Fargo Center disturbed his secret hideout forcing him to show his face publicly for the first time.

So in Gritty's 2009 photo, he is indeed pictured under the stands assumedly of the Wells Fargo Center, with a piece of pizza.
