Flyers Mascot Gritty Featured on Mike McKenna's Goalie Mask

Everybody loves Gritty, especially the goalies because the Flyers' mascot makes for some awesome art.

Everybody loves Gritty.

Especially the goalies, because the Flyers' mascot makes for some awesome art.

First, it was Calvin Pickard who honored the furry fella on his mask.

Now, it's newest netminder Mike McKenna with the Gritty ink.

McKenna has a neat hockey story and background. He wears No. 56 because it was the number his father Terry used as a race car driver.

The Flyers are McKenna's seventh NHL club.

"I've always been able to perform," he said earlier this month. "It's just been a matter of not being somebody's prospect. That's what I've battled my whole career. I didn't start out with an entry-level contract, so the cards were stacked against me from the beginning, and for whatever reason, I've managed to persevere and keep my career going."

All the way to a fresh Gritty mask. Let's hope we see it in action soon.
