Flyers Go for 11th Straight Win Vs. Stars' Struggling Offense

DALLAS — The Flyers will try for their 11th consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in Dallas.

Steve Mason is expected to be in net, where he will try to record his ninth win as part of this streak. He’s 8-0 with a 2.33 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

Something to watch for against the Stars on Saturday is the continued offensive presence of the Flyers' top two lines.

Claude Giroux’s unit with Michael Raffl and Jakub Voracek has combined for 12 goals and 32 points during the 10 games.

Brayden Schenn’s unit with Travis Konecny and Wayne Simmonds has 12 goals and 22 points.

Technically speaking, one of Schenn’s assists came on Giroux’s line, while a goal and two assists from Simmonds occurred while he was still on Giroux’s line, as well.

Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said he’s been impressed with how hard his team has worked during the streak, which began Nov. 27 against Calgary.

“It’s a group of guys going out every day working hard for points and that is the bottom line,” Hakstol said. “A bunch of players that are on the same page, battling hard night-in and night-out to gain two points.”

The Stars lost 2-0 to the Rangers on Thursday night. Dallas is having issues getting its offensive game in gear this season.

Lindy Ruff’s club is 2-4 in its last six games and 4-6-1 over the last 11.

“It’s a team we just played a little over a week ago,” Hakstol said. “They are coming home after a long road trip and I know they are putting an emphasis on this homestand and the importance of it. For us, we worry about ourselves and make sure we handle their speed and transition game.”
