So the Flyers snared a goalie after all.

The one position general manager Ron Hextall wasn't certain to touch became addressed in the fifth round of Saturday's 2018 NHL draft. With the 143rd overall pick, the Flyers selected Samuel Ersson, a Swedish netminder.

The 18-year-old was the seventh-ranked European goalie by NHL Central Scouting and possesses nice size at 6-foot-2, 176 pounds.

Playing Swedish junior hockey last season, Ersson posted a 2.53 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in 40 games for Brynäs IF J20. He also appeared in one SHL contest for Brynäs IF - Oskar Lindblom's former club.

Ersson joins fellow Swede Felix Sandstrom in the Flyers' system stocked with goalies, including Carter Hart, Alex Lyon, Anthony Stolarz, Kirill Ustimenko and Matej Tomek.
