Flyers' Evgeny Medvedev Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Updated: 3:36 p.m.

VOORHEES, N.J. - Flyers defenseman Evgeny Medvedev was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of driving under the influence in Montgomery County, police confirmed to NBCPhiladelphia Wednesday afternoon.

SonsOfPenn.com first reported the story.

Medvedev was stopped at 2:45 a.m. for a traffic violation and then arrested for suspicion of DUI. He has not been charged and is no longer in custody, police told NBCPhiladelphia.

"I heard a report on it, but I don't know any more than that," Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said Wednesday at Skate Zone. "I'm certainly not going to comment on it at this point."

Medvedev, 33, will become a free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal with the Flyers last offseason. Medvedev was a healthy scratch for 14 of the Flyers' final 15 regular-season games. He had four goals and nine assists in 45 games.

When asked if the Flyers are considering re-signing Medvedev, regardless of the report, Hextall said, "We haven't totally made those decisions yet but I'd say probably we're leaning towards not."
