Flyers Injury Update: Steve Mason (flu) in New York; Radko Gudas (upper Body) Day to Day

After Saturday night's eventful game against New Jersey, the Flyers' lineup is in a state of flux heading into Sunday's pivotal matchup against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Let's start with the goaltenders.

As of early Sunday afternoon, general manager Ron Hextall provided no further update on the condition of Michal Neuvirth, who suddenly collapsed on the ice during a scary sequence in the first period of Saturday's 3-0 win over the Devils. After the victory over New Jersey, Hextall said Neuvirth was awake and alert and was taken to Pennsylvania Hospital for further evaluation. Teammates said Neuvirth, who is not in New York with the Flyers, wasn't feeling well before the game.

Steve Mason, who missed Saturday's contest with a flu bug that has been going around the locker room, is in New York with the Flyers. As of Sunday afternoon, goalie Alex Lyon has not been called up from the Phantoms, so that could mean Mason is feeling well enough to dress Sunday. But considering Mason wasn't well enough to Saturday, odds could be in high favor of Anthony Stolarz starting against the Rangers.

The Flyers' defensive corps has taken a hit, too, as Radko Gudas is day to day with an upper-body injury. In the second period of Saturday's win, Gudas absorbed a hit from New Jersey's Dalton Prout and stayed down on the ice while holding his head. The hit was in retaliation to an open-ice hit Gudas laid on the Devils' John Quennville moments earlier. Gudas came back into the game for a short period of time, but eventually left and did not return.

Nick Schultz will likely draw into the lineup in Gudas' absence.
