Week 12 NFC Power Rankings: Eagles Slide Again After Blowout

The Eagles (4-6) lost to the Saints 48-7 on Sunday in New Orleans, which obviously kept its No. 1 spot.

Just six more weeks to go until playoffs.

Here are my up-to-date NFC power rankings:

1. Saints (9-1) Last week: 1
The NFL's top offense put up 48 points on the defending Super Bowl champions. For how much everyone was cooing over the Monday Night Football game, I still think the Saints are the team to beat in the NFC.

2. Rams (10-1) Last week: 2
The Rams won the game of the year over the Chiefs on MNF. They put up 54 points in that offensive shootout, but they also gave up 51. Still, the Rams are a very good team.

3. Bears (7-3) Last week: 5
OK, fine. It's time to start believing in the Bears. They beat the Vikings 25-20 this weekend and have now won four straight. But they will be without Mitchell Trubisky today.

4. Panthers (6-4) Last week: 3
Back-to-back losses from the Panthers have them out of the top three. This latest loss (20-19 in Detroit) is probably more troubling than the blowout loss to the Steelers the previous week. The Panthers are hard to figure out. They have a tough test vs. Seattle this week.

10 wild oddities, quirks and curiosities from throughout Eagles draft history

5. Vikings (5-4-1) Last week: 4
The Vikings had a golden opportunity to get back in the NFC North race but lost to the Bears. Their last three losses have come to the Bears, Saints and Rams. Their only bad loss of the season was an inexplicable 27-6 loss in Week 3 to the Bills.

6. Seahawks (5-5) Last week: 8
Obviously, the Seahawks aren't going to catch the Rams in their division, but they are pushing for a wild-card spot after a win over the Packers at home. While they do have the Panthers and Vikings coming up, the other two games the next four weeks are against the 49ers.

7. Cowboys (5-5) Last week: 9
All of a sudden, the Cowboys have won two straight after looking like their season was about to completely implode. Last week, they beat the Falcons. With a win over Washington today, they would pull even atop the division.

8. Redskins (6-4) Last week: 6
It's probably unfair to have Washington below the Cowboys. After all, they have a better record and have beaten them already. But Washington lost to the Texans in a close game and in the process lost starting quarterback Alex Smith. That's the real reason for this fall. Hard to imagine Colt McCoy leading them to the playoffs.

9. Packers (4-5-1) Last week: 7
After falling to the Seahawks 27-24 in Seattle, the Packers have now lost three of their last four games. Now, they're on the road in Minnesota. With Aaron Rodgers, they always have a chance, but he doesn't make up for everyone else.

10. Lions (4-6) Last week: 12
I have no idea what to make of the Lions. They beat the Panthers this week after losing three straight. During this season, they have won games they have no right to win and lost games they should have easily won.

11. Eagles (4-6) Last week: 10
They gave up 48 points to the Saints, which isn't great, but at least it's understandable. The real problem is they scored just seven points and Carson Wentz had the worst game of his professional career. If they lose to the Giants this week, their season will be in a complete tailspin.

12. Falcons (4-6) Last week: 11
Like the Eagles, the Falcons have lost their last two - to the Browns and Cowboys. That sounds worse than the Saints and Cowboys. But they are in New Orleans today, so that'll be interesting.

13. Giants (3-7) Last week: 15
Here come the New York Giants. Since their bye week, the Giants have rattled off back-to-back wins over the 49ers and the Bucs. They even put up 38 points this week. They have a legit shot to win in Philly this week.

14. Buccaneers (3-7) Last week: 13
The Bucs started their season beating the Saints and Eagles and have been awful recently. They lost to the Giants on Sunday and have now lost four straight. They even went back to Jameis Winston. They're a mess.

15. Cardinals (2-8) Last week: 14
They lost to the Raiders, 23-21. The Raiders were thought to be the worst team in the NFL coming into the game.

16. 49ers (2-8) Last week: 16
The Niners found a way to not lose a game this week. They didn't play one. They're off their bye in Tampa this week.
